The Automake package contains programs for generating Makefiles for use with Autoconf.

Required disk space: 8.8 MB
Installation depends on: Autoconf, Bash, Coreutils, Diffutils, Grep, M4, Make, Perl, and Sed

6.36.1. Installation of Automake

Prepare Automake for compilation: 

./configure --prefix=/usr

Compile the package: 

make

To test the results, issue: make check. This takes a long time, about 5 SBUs.

Install the package: 

make install

A script that installs aclocal-style M4 files

aclocal

Generates aclocal.m4 files based on the contents of configure.in files

A hard link to aclocal

automake

A tool for automatically generating Makefile.in files from Makefile.am files. To create all the Makefile.in files for a package, run this program in the top-level directory. By scanning the configure.in file, it automatically finds each appropriate Makefile.am file and generates the corresponding Makefile.in file
