Introduction to luit

The luit package is a filter that can be run between an arbitrary application and a UTF-8 terminal emulator. It will convert application output from the locale’s encoding into UTF‐8, and convert terminal input from UTF‐8 into the locale’s encoding.

This version of BLFS may not build or run some packages properly if LFS or dependencies have been updated since the most recent stable version of the System V books.

Installation of luit

Install luit by running the following commands: 

./configure $XORG_CONFIG &&
make

This package does not come with a test suite.

Now, as the root user: 

make install
