Introduction to xcb-proto

The xcb-proto package provides the XML-XCB protocol descriptions that libxcb uses to generate the majority of its code and API.

This package is known to build and work properly using an LFS-7.10 platform.

Python-2.7.12 or Python-3.5.2, and Xorg build environment (should be set for the following instructions to work)

Installation of xcb-proto

First, fix a file that allows the checks to run properly:

patch -Np1 -i ../xcb-proto-1.12-schema-1.patch

If building with Python 3, issue the following command:

patch -Np1 -i ../xcb-proto-1.12-python3-1.patch

Install xcb-proto by running the following commands:

./configure $XORG_CONFIG

To test the results, issue: make check.

Now, as the root user:

make install

Installed Libraries: None
Installed Directory: $XORG_PREFIX/share/xcb and $XORG_PREFIX/lib/python2.7/site-packages/xcbgen or $XORG_PREFIX/lib/python3.5/site-packages/xcbgen
