Please try the attached patch. I did not do excessive testing due to
lack of time, but I suggest you try one time with an unpatched and one
time with the patched tidy and then run a diff on both versions to
check whether they seem ok (only the newlines at the start and end of
PRE elements removed) or whether other problems crept in. In that case
I would have to modify the patch.
