[links] piping URLs into links

Dear list:
I have been having trouble submititng long URLs into the text area in
links - I am running it in text on a Toshiba 430CDT laptop...slackware 4
operating system.
I cant cut and paste it in with gpm because for some reason this does not
work with the built in PS/2 mouse. (an external serial mouse is OK)

Is there some natty command line format like
links < url.txt
or links | cat url.txt
......?
Do I have to write a script ?
