Setting a specific uid and gid will not affect anything.
What are the results of the host system requirements in section vii?
What happens if you just run `env -i HOME=$HOME TERM=$TERM PS1='\u:\w\$ '
/bin/bash` from the command prompt?
What is the full output of `set`?
