I am having a problem getting thru section 6.10, Re-Adjusting the Toolchain. The 3rd block of instructions seems to hang on the "cc dummy.c..." command. I can ctrl-C, and it stops, but would like to know what may have caused it to not complete, or if it is ok to continue.

>From the Book, the 3rd block of commands are:
echo 'main(){}'> dummy.c
cc dummy.c -v -Wl,--verbose &> dummy.log
readelf -l a.out | grep ': /lib'

Here is the "dummy.log" file created:
Reading specs from /tools/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.4.3/specs
cc: unrecognized option '-v'
cc: unrecognized option '-mtune=generic'
Target: i686-pc-linux-gnu
Configured with: ../gcc-4.4.3/configure --prefix=/tools --with-local-prefix=/tools --enable-clocale=gnu --enable-shared --enable-threads=posix --enable-__cxa_atexit --enable-languages=c,c++ --disable-libstdcxx-pch --disable-multilib --disable-bootstrap
Thread model: posix
gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC)
COLLECT_GCC_OPTIONS='-v' '-mtune=generic'

I don't know if it is useful, but also attached is a log of the output each of the prior commands in section 6.10.

Any help or direction to a solution would be appreciated.

Thank you.

David Gay
