glibc error

In section 6.10, using version 6.5 of the LFS book, I've encountered a
strange error.

When I create dummy.c and run 'cc dummy.c -v -Wl, --verbose &>
dummy.log', a.out is not produced. dummy.log says
"/tools/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.4.1/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld:

: No such file: No such file or directory".

I've manually verified that ld does exist in that path.

glibc installed correctly (or seemed to), and 'make -k check' didn't
return any errors other than the ones expected in the book.

I'm attaching dummy.log and specs, if that will help.
