Host system requirements

Hi all!

Just a very probably silly question:

In the preface of lfs-book iv. Host system requirements there is listed
minimum gcc version is gcc-2.95.3 and Linux Kernel-2.6.x (having been
compiled with Gcc-3.0 or greater), so the question is shouldn't be
changed the gcc minum version from 2.95.3 to 3.0 since the host Kernel
needs to be compiled with a Gcc-3.0 version (for TLS support in Binutils
and the Native POSIX Threading Library (NTPL) test suite segaults with
a kernel compiled with previous versions of gcc)?

Here listed (just to say) the result of version-check on my host
(lfs-20060906 with some modifications):
bash, version 3.2.1(1)-release
Binutils: version 2.17
bzip2, Version 1.0.3, 15-Feb-2005.
Coreutils: 5.97
diff (GNU diffutils) 2.8.1
GNU find version 4.2.28
GNU Awk 3.1.5
gcc (GCC) 4.1.1
GNU C Library development release version 2.4,
grep (grep GNU) 2.5.1
gzip 1.3.5
Linux version (gcc version 4.1.1)
GNU Make 3.81
patch 2.5.4
GNU sed version 4.1.5
tar (GNU tar) 1.15.1
