  Go back to the host system, mount the new system at /mnt/lfs, then 
create /dev/console and /dev/null again (for the stable book, this is in 
section 6.8.1).  Sounds as if these two static devices (which are all we 
need before udev creates the rest of them) are missing, perhaps you 
missed them when you built the system (before you mounted the tmpfs at
