glibc ntpl test error - chapter 6

Hi All

I am on chapter 6.11, and I have had no errors at all so far.
Admittedly, I skipped some optional tests in chapter 5, but they were optional.

In Chapter 6, after entering the chroot command etc, I got to 6.11,
glibc installation.

I ran configure and make without any problems, but during 'make
check', at the ntpl step, it exited with an error. I can give the
entire 'make check' log, but it really doesn't give anything useful.
I subsequently re-ran make check, redirecting the output to a log, and
when it died, STDERR gave this message:

root:/sources/glibc-build# make check > make_check_errors.txt
/sources/glibc-build/nptl/tst-cancelx4.o(.text+0x18b1): In function `tf_accept':
/sources/glibc-2.3.4-20040701/nptl/tst-cancel4.c:948: warning: the use
of `mktemp' is dangerous, better use `mkstemp'
/sources/glibc-build/nptl/tst-cancelx5.o(.text+0x18b1): In function `tf_accept':
/sources/glibc-2.3.4-20040701/nptl/tst-cancel4.c:948: warning: the use
of `mktemp' is dangerous, better use `mkstemp'
tst-cancel7.c:172: warning: 'do_cleanup' defined but not used
make[2]: *** [/sources/glibc-build/nptl/tst-cancelx17.out] Error 1
make[1]: *** [nptl/tests] Error 2
make: *** [check] Error 2

Has anyone got any idea what causes this error?
Would the above warnings cause the test to fail?
What can i do to fix this?
Is it possible that I failed to compile a specific feature into my kernel?

System Details in case it matters:

Slackware 10 full install
kernel :
Athlon 1Ghz CPU
LFS partition = 3 Gb
host root partition = 5Gb
RAM : 256 Mb
swap : 512 Mb partition
I have logged the entire process if anyone wants to examine the logs.

Thanks again,
