Unfortunately, this is simply a bug in the LFS-6.0 book. The
solution is to apply the patches available in the testing and
unstable versions of the book.
This question should be included in the LFS FAQ. I've CC'd the
FAQ list. To me it is unreasonable to make users search the
archives, when the problem is a known bug in the book. At least
in the FAQ, a reader could relatively quickly find the answer.
