Is this your invention or otherwise what version of th book are you using 4.1
at a guess? Yes 4.1 == (3.1.1 && static); 5.0 == (3.1.3 && tools);

I've forgotten what LFS-4 installs looked like but this seems sparse all the
same. 'install' is installed from coreutils in LFS-5 and from file-utils in
LFS-4. In LFS 4, fileutils is installed after gawk. Some clarity on this will
probably solve your problem.
