Glibc : kernel too old ???

I try to build a new 6.0 LFS system. My host system is a 4.1 LFS system,
with a 2.4.20 kernel. While making glibc in chapter 5, I get this message
after a while :

FATAL: kernel too old
make[2]: ***
[/mnt/suse/sources/build/glibc-build/sunrpc/xbootparam_prot.stmp] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory
`/mnt/suse/sources/build/glibc-2.3.4-20040701/sunrpc'
make[1]: *** [sunrpc/others] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/mnt/suse/sources/build/glibc-2.3.4-20040701'
make: *** [all] Error 2

Do I need to compile a new kernel ??? This looks quite odd to me.
