Hi list,

Here the install cmd for bzip2 in chapter 6 :

make -f Makefile-libbz2_so &&
make &&
make install &&
cp bzip2-shared /bin/bzip2 &&
ln -s libbz2.so.1.0 libbz2.so &&  (1)
cp -a libbz2.so* /lib &&              (2)
rm /lib/libbz2.so &&                   (3)
ln -s ../../lib/libbz2.so.1.0 /usr/lib/libbz2.so &&
rm /usr/bin/{bunzip2,bzcat,bzip2} &&
mv /usr/bin/{bzip2recover,bzless,bzmore} /bin &&
ln -s bzip2 /bin/bunzip2 &&
ln -s bzip2 /bin/bzcat

The strange thing is that :
(1) we create a symlink called libbz2.so ---> so far, so good
(2) we copy it in /lib ---> so far, so good
(3) we delete it in /lib ---> !!!!!

Mr Spock should say : "this is not logic Captain" !
Does anyone have an explanation ?

Benoit
