If I was looking to later upgrade GLIBC, is there any disadvantage to doing this? Can it mess things up and break all of the programs that are linked to it? For example, as future patches and version of GCC and GLIBC beyond GLIBC2.3.1 and GCC3.2 come out?
More from a technical standpoint. I know I can do it from a user standpoint, but I'm more curious regarding what I can break technically in a production system.
