Using strace on working id command

strace -f -o /tmp/id_ok.trc id
  [...]
  open("/etc/nsswitch.conf", O_RDONLY) = 3
  [...]
  open("/etc/passwd", O_RDONLY) = 3
  [...]
  open("/etc/group", O_RDONLY) = 3
  [...]

Seems to work as expected ;)

Using strace on non-working id command (group id
number is printed but not its name):

strace -f -o /tmp/id_ok.trc id
  [...]
  open("/etc/nsswitch.conf", O_RDONLY) = 3
  [...]
  open("/etc/passwd", O_RDONLY) = 3
  [...]

Hmm, no /etc/group read here ?
Checked /etc/nsswitch.conf file next:
cat /etc/nsswitch.conf
group: filess # *Oh* *my* *God*

Conclusion: typos are bad, aren't they?
Corrected entry (group: files), all ok.

Thanks for all hints.

Happy new year
Christian
