My patch won't work

This error is often confusing. It can mean two things:

1) the file itself isn't there (/static/bin/patch)
2) the dynamic loader isn't there (/lib/ld-linux.so.2)

In either case it will abort with the error you got. However, number #2 only 
applies to dynamically linked programs. If the file /static/bin/patch exists 
(ie you see it there with 'ls') then it means patch is dynamically linked and 
you must reinstall it from chapter 5.
