Hi,
during compiling Netkit-base-0.17 following showed up:

make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/netkit-base-0.17/ping'
install -s -o root -m4755 ping /bin
install: invalid user `root'
make[1]: *** [install] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/netkit-base-0.17/ping'
make: *** [ping.install] Error 2

I changed line 12 in ../ping/makefile from

-snipped-
install: ping
	install -s -o 'root' -m$(SUIDMODE) ping $(INSTALLROOT)$(ROOTBINDIR)
	install -m$(MANMODE) ping.8 $(INSTALLROOT)$(MANDIR)/man8

clean:
	rm -f *.o ping

to:

-snipped-
install: ping
	install -s -m$(SUIDMODE) ping $(INSTALLROOT)$(ROOTBINDIR)
	install -m$(MANMODE) ping.8 $(INSTALLROOT)$(MANDIR)/man8

clean:
	rm -f *.o ping

and it worked (?)...
Q: Is That OK?
