I do it all the time. The only noticable difference is you don't get
prompted with the ncurses-based screen handling - it's text-based.
This saved a lot when I upgraded from 2.4.18 to 2.4.19 kernel (LFS 3.3 cvs
20020521 -> current cvs (20021015)). My automated scripts also do this.
