Had the same problem with book version from ca. 12. Sept. (book
and files nearly identic with LFS 4.0). Did not find out why and
started all over with 4.0 (just downloaded some patches which
have been uploaded in the four weeks since the first time), with
the same sources tarball, a clean LFS partition (rm -rf /, I
believe), and with SuSE 7.3 as a host distro.
Probably we made the same typo somewhere;-).
