Portable LFS?

Hi, everybody

first of all, I'm not subscribed to this mailinglist, to replay me, my
e-mail is jphoude at sympatico.ca

I have a little question about compiling LFS. Can I use the gcc option
-march=i386 ?

Will I be able to use this LFS on an i386, i586 and i686 CPU... or do I
need to specify other options?

I compile LFS on a i686 (RH 7.3). And as I can see there is a lot of
stuff referencing to i686

Some examples:
/usr/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc link to usr/bin/gcc
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/2.95.3/

 and a lot more...

Will this cause problem.

Thank you in advance

Jean-Philippe
