thanks for your answer. some things are indeed obvious, even without
reading the documentation: no need to touch /etc/ld.so.conf, since the file
already exists, and -of course- no login after installation.

another command to remove seems to be the patching, but this left me
wondering: "The patch also contains a few bug fixes and security fixes."
how do you cope with that without applying the patch? are those the three
commands you were referring to?
