undoing an error in gcc compile

I followed the instructions in compiling gcc in the book in chapter 5, but I
made an error where I said to cd $/LFS/lib instead of $LFS/lib I realized
the error after it ran and tried to delete the gcc source directory and
unpack it and compile and install again, but it would not do so. How do I
correct my error?
