You have got a bit further this time, but it may be worth quoting
something from the mc-4.5.55 'INSTALL' doc

We're using glib-1.2.10 with mc-4.5.55 without problems. That said, the
error message you've included points to the fact that you haven't got
slang installed. Maybe adding '--without-slang' to your configure options
might work. Alternatively download slang (it's very useful) from here:
