That's actually a bugzilla item. It'll have to be discussed on lfs-dev in a
bit more detail.

The thing is, that if you configure some software with --prefix=/usr (i'm
talking about blfs kinda stuff, nothing that's in the lfs-book) some
packages will install things to /usr/etc

We need to discuss if people want to just have the directory removed, or
replaced by a symbolic link to /etc

I personally like the symlink, as it makes things a lot easier. Not evey
package listens or even has a --sysconfdir option to ./configure and to
change the source code of apps to look in /etc is a pain. It's a lazy-man
approach for sure, but a very convenient one methinks.

Either way, this will be discussed on lfs-dev in due time (ie: after
lfs-3.2)
