Check out the lfs_next_to_existing_systems.txt hint. Perhaps you will 
not need to partition: it shows how to build lfs, then magically swap 
the two systems, so instead of lfs being a subdir of the old distro, the 
old distro is a subdir of lfs. It saves your files too.
