Was this problem fixed now?

this problem,btw, happens often when you use a patch file from ftp.gnu.org
to upgrade an old glibc version to the latest one - the patch is quite
broken and causes these problems.

and the reason the email never arived is that lfs-discuss doesn't exist
anymore. I've made it an alias to me personally so I can see who's still
using it and point out the mistake (the alias lfs-discuss will be removed
soon).
