Trouble compiling Glibc 2.2.4 : solved.

I have successfully followed the 3.0 LFS book using kernel 2.4.9.  I didn't 
even install 2.4.8, so I'd say rubber stamp "works with 2.4.9".  I had no 
optimizations set in CFLAGS, so I suspect it was your optimization level, not 
the kernel version.
