question about linux

LFS is a souce distribution that means you have to compile and configure a
kernel which supports SMP for your Dual-Processor-Box. To install LFS you
need to install a binary Distribution like Redhat or e.g SuSE which also
supports SMP. If you never worked with Linux before you should use a
Standart Distribution first and if you have got some basic Linux-knowledge
about using the shell or using the c-compiler you can install LFS (Of course
you can try to install now and learn much while doing but perhaps it`s more
you like to learn and work for beginning with Linux)
