Error in MAKE(ing) Glibc-2.2.4

That doesn't look good.

Check that you installed grep properly.  If the file exists do a 
ldd $LFS/usr/bin/grep and check that it's statically linked.

I'd suggest reinstalling grep from chapter 5, then delete your
glibc-2.2.4 directories, reuntar and try again.
