make dosn't compile (cvs 11.11)

Hy,
i got this ugly error when i try to compile make on my lfs:

make[2]: Entering directory `/home/src/src/m/make-3.79.1'
gcc  -g -O2  -o make  ar.o arscan.o commands.o dir.o expand.o file.o
function.o getopt.o implicit.o job.o main.o misc.o read.o remake.o

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lelf
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

i followed the manual, and until now everything worked fine :(
