Glibc-2.2.4 compilation error

I found the problem when i tried to figure out whitch process was
using most memory. When I tried to run "ps -aux | sort +4n" I got
"sort: Memory exhausted" again...

I think I rebooted 20 times from  the first time I got the problem.

I'm running kernel 2.2.14...
