Your suggestion seems to help.  Thanks!

The only thing that bothers me now is that I get the following message when
I apply xorg-68x-cidfonts.patch:
Hunk #1 FAILED at 1.

1 out of 6 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file

The failed hunk is about some comments, so I guess it is not significant.
