If you want to force new lines you can do the following:
echo -e "#undef STANDARD_INCLUDE_DIR\n
#define STANDARD_INCLUDE_DIR 0\n" >> gcc/config/linux.h
the "-e" will tell echo to interpret special character combinations
such as '\n', which means newline.
