libol is only used for syslog-ng. Therefore, it goes too. syslog-ng, as
stated, doesn't provide a klogd. klogd and syslogd can both drop privs,
and, unlike syslog-ng, sysklogd can log asynchronously. Without that,
forget running a busy mail server. That is why it is still used in BSD
and other security-centric distros.
