[elinks-users] How to change table border rendering

Table borders are rendered in a very ugly in-your-face fashion, as big black blocks. How can I change this? Is Elinks doing this or is it my Putty (0.58) terminal? (I've got 256-colour enabled and working if that makes any difference.)

(The Elinks menus also display the same big black blocks, btw)
