 I thought Bruce's phraseology was clear and to the point.  I hadn't
measured the length of what you repeated in that reply, but it was
enormous.  Normally, I would have asked you to trim your future
posts when I replied.  In that case, I didn't.

 You seem to be confused - I don't see any implication that Bruce
knew how to fix the problem (and since in this instance it was
triggered by you building X in an unusual prefix, I think it is
unlikely that anybody here knew the solution until you shared it
with us).

 Balance, dear boy, balance ;-)  A lot of the time, exactly how much
to trim is a matter of choice.  But when the mail is already long,
if in doubt trim a little more.

 Perhaps I need to remind _you_ that kde3's presence in BLFS, and
much of the grunt work for recent LFS releases, is down to Bruce's
efforts over the years.

 You also flatter me - my knowledge of 'nix is generally much *less*
than most people who stay on this list, but I do try to keep my notes,
which means that if something goes wrong there is a good chance I've
had a similar problem.
