I found the problem,  it was a dodgy patch from here:-

sisyphus.ru/cgi-bin/srpm.pl/Sisyphus/qalculate/getpatch/0

for libqalculate-0.9.6  to work with cln-1.2.2

Please DO NOT use this patch,  please use stuff from  here instead:-
http://packages.debian.org/hu/source/sid/libqalculate )))


libqalculate-0.9.6  builds and subsequently kdeedu-4..2.1  compiles and 
installs.
