Yes, but it should have created the file earlier. On 32-bit
0.10.22 I have (two lines, reformatted by pasting, separated to
aid legibility) :

/bin/sh ../../libtool --tag=CC --tag=disable-static --mode=compile
gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I../.. -I../../gst-libs -I../../gst-libs
-pthread -I/usr/include/gstreamer-0.10 -I/usr/include/glib-2.0
-I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/libxml2 -Wall
-Wdeclaration-after-statement -Wvla -g -DGST_ENABLE_NEW -g -O2
-MT libgsttcp_la-gsttcpserversrc.lo -MD -MP -MF
.deps/libgsttcp_la-gsttcpserversrc.Tpo -c -o
libgsttcp_la-gsttcpserversrc.lo `test -f 'gsttcpserversrc.c' || echo
'./'`gsttcpserversrc.c

libtool: compile: gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I../.. -I../../gst-libs
-I../../gst-libs -pthread -I/usr/include/gstreamer-0.10
-I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include
-I/usr/include/libxml2 -Wall -Wdeclaration-after-statement -Wvla -g
-DGST_ENABLE_NEW -g -O2 -MT libgsttcp_la-gsttcpserversrc.lo -MD -MP
-MF .deps/libgsttcp_la-gsttcpserversrc.Tpo -c gsttcpserversrc.c
-fPIC -DPIC -o .libs/libgsttcp_la-gsttcpserversrc.o

I don't pretend to understand exactly what all of that means, but
the second created the .o file. For some reason, you don't have the
.o file so perhaps there was an error that didn't halt the build ?
