Default ownership of ~/.ssh?

Perhaps I'm a bit dense this morning (or always?), but I don't
understand the question.

Are you speaking of each individual users' ~/.ssh directory?

On Belgarath, for example, permissions on my ~/.ssh dir are
randy:randy and 700.
