This is why you add the directive "ide-cd ignore=hdc" as either an
options statement, or embedded in the append line to be passed to the
kernel as a boot argument to prevent the ide-cd module from claiming the
device.  This _is_ mentioned in the Cd Writing HOWTO, BTW.
