I've got hyperthreads on in the bios, I'll try losing them.
Also with 1g ram, I'm using himem, tables in highmem:

CONFIG_HIGHMEM4G=y
# CONFIG_HIGHMEM64G is not set
CONFIG_HIGHMEM=y
CONFIG_HIGHPTE=y
 
Maybe dink with those.
