Sounds a lot like you compiled alsa with a different compiler than the 
kernel. If you followed the LFS book, you have to compile alsa with 
gcc-2.95.3. Either do an export CC=/opt/gcc-2.95.3/bin/gcc before you 
compile, or do
CC=/opt/gcc-2.95.3/bin/gcc ./configure &&
make &&
make install
