Glibc-2.3.3 Seg. fault on install

A Segmentation fault is a memory fault.  Something crashed badly. I
would examine the 2 files by hand ( ca.po) and then try this line
by from a terminal
> msgfmt -o ca.po

Also, it appears to be in the locales. Is this 'make install' or 'make
install locales'?
