txt files in windows won't work in linux

I can't believe no one has posted this yet, has to be the simplest way to
fix this problem;

[21:40:50] <HIghoS> tux, dostounix
[21:40:50] <Tux> [dostounix]: cat filename | tr -d \\015 > newfile
