variable in a variable (bash)

Hi, again.

I'm working on a script to fill in a few variables.
#!/bin/bash
ref=1
num=1
((num++))
while [ $num != $ref ]
do
 echo "Working CD$ref :"
   for i in artist titel album
   do
    echo -n " Enter $i : "
    read $i
   echo -e $i is "$'$i"
   done
 echo "$artist $titel $album "
((ref++))
done

It is easier with number using $(($i)) but strings are a hell in this
matter ;-)

Thanks for anyone who can help me...
