You mentioned before that it's a Western Digital drive... Go to their
website and they're supposed to (they had them as of two months ago)
have all the utilities necessary for doing a low-level format of the
disk, as well as doing some nice diagnostics on it as well.  If those
bad sectors were created by a poorly-timed power fail event, a low-level
it will make 'em disappear for you.
