I'm trying to compile gtk+-2.0.6 and get the following error:

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lz
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[3]: *** [] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory '/usr/src/packages/gnome/gtk+-2.0.6/gdk-pixbuf'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory '/usr/src/packages/gnome/gtk+-2.0.6/gdk-pixbuf'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory '/usr/src/packages/gnome/gtk+-2.0.6'
make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2

I've started to get relatively good at fixing my own problems, but I
don't understand this one. It looks to me like -lz is actually options
for ld, but it should be passed some sort of keyword.
