Maybe this is a silly question, but did you install libjpeg ???
If so, did you install libjpeg *before* imlib, Eterm, and E ?

Run `ldd' on your libImlib.so and see what it tells you.
There should be a reference to libjpeg, and you should also
have a libimlib-jpeg.so file too.
